Operating Principle
Lobe pumps consist of two or more lobes rotating synchronously within the pump casing.
The lobes operate in synchronization through timing gears without contacting each other. During rotation, the volume created on the suction side draws the fluid into the pump. The fluid is then carried within the cavities formed between the lobes and the casing and transferred to the discharge line.
Thanks to the non-contact operating principle, the following advantages are achieved:
- Low shear force
- Low pulsation
- Ability to handle particles
- Hygienic flow characteristics
- Bidirectional operation

Design & Material
Lobe pumps are designed in accordance with hygienic process requirements, featuring high surface quality and easy-to-clean internal geometry.
While the non-contact lobe structure minimizes wear, low surface roughness enhances product safety. For hygienic applications, a surface finish of Ra ≤ 0.8 µm can be achieved.
