Lobe Pumps

MAXWOR lobe pumps are positive displacement rotary pumps designed for applications requiring hygienic and sensitive fluid transfer. They deliver high performance especially in the transfer of fluids that require low shear, contain particles, or have sensitive structures.

Thanks to the non-contact lobe design, fluids are transferred smoothly with minimal vibration and a constant flow rate without damaging the product structure. With their hygienic design, low pulsation flow characteristics, and bidirectional operation capability, they are widely used in the food, cosmetics, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries.

Their ability to provide high volumetric efficiency at low speeds makes them a reliable and long-lasting solution for the transfer of sensitive products.

Operating Principle

Lobe pumps consist of two or more lobes rotating synchronously within the pump casing.

The lobes operate in synchronization through timing gears without contacting each other. During rotation, the volume created on the suction side draws the fluid into the pump. The fluid is then carried within the cavities formed between the lobes and the casing and transferred to the discharge line.

Thanks to the non-contact operating principle, the following advantages are achieved:

  • Low shear force
  • Low pulsation
  • Ability to handle particles
  • Hygienic flow characteristics
  • Bidirectional operation

(depending on product characteristics)

Advantages

  • Preserves product structure thanks to low shear force
  • Suitable for fluids containing particles
  • Hygienic design
  • Provides low pulsation and stable flow
  • Offers bidirectional operation
  • Easy maintenance and cleaning
  • Compatible with CIP / SIP systems

Design & Material

Lobe pumps are designed in accordance with hygienic process requirements, featuring high surface quality and easy-to-clean internal geometry.

While the non-contact lobe structure minimizes wear, low surface roughness enhances product safety. For hygienic applications, a surface finish of Ra ≤ 0.8 µm can be achieved.
