Design and Operating Principle
In PTFE metal expansion joint designs, the internal surface of the metal bellows is lined with PTFE. While the metal bellows absorbs axial, lateral, and angular movements in the system, the PTFE liner provides high chemical protection against the conveyed fluid.
Thanks to the PTFE liner, direct contact between aggressive chemicals and the metal surface is prevented, significantly increasing the service life of the expansion joint in corrosive environments.
Flanged or weld neck connection options are available, and the systems are optimized for chemical process applications.
Performance Advantages
- High resistance to corrosive and abrasive fluids
- Long service life in chemical environments
- Low-friction internal surface
- Reduces scaling and deposit formation
- Safe and leak-free operation
- Usable across a wide temperature and pressure range
- Maintains the mechanical strength advantages of metal bellows
- Ideal solution for chemical process applications
Operating Values
Operating Pressure
- Maximum 25 bar
- (depending on DN size, PTFE liner thickness, and design)
Operating Temperature
- -50°C / +200°C
- (depending on PTFE liner limits)
Movement Capabilities
- Axial Movement: ±10 mm – 50 mm
- Lateral Movement: ±10 mm – 80 mm
- Angular Movement: ±3° – 8°
Note: The PTFE liner does not provide mechanical strength. Pressure and movement loads are carried by the metal bellows structure.
