Rotating Flange Expansion Joint

MAXWOR rotating flange expansion joints are metal bellows expansion solutions designed to absorb axial movements caused by thermal expansion in pipeline systems. The rotating (loose) flange structure on both ends provides high alignment flexibility during installation.

They are especially preferred in installations where mounting tolerances are critical, minimizing flange hole misalignment issues and reducing installation time and labor costs.

Thanks to their compact structure, which ensures safe operation under high temperature and pressure, they are widely used in power plants, process facilities, HVAC systems, and petrochemical applications.

Technical Specifications

Design and Operating Principle

Rotating flange expansion joints absorb axial movements occurring in pipeline systems through their stainless steel metal bellows structure. The bellows provide controlled flexibility, reducing stresses caused by thermal expansion and improving overall system safety.

The rotating flanges at both ends allow free rotation during installation, making bolt hole alignment easier. This provides a significant advantage, especially in large-diameter pipelines or installations with limited access.

They can be manufactured in accordance with DIN or ANSI standards and are designed to operate safely under high temperature and high pressure conditions.

Performance Advantages

  • Provides ease of alignment during installation
  • Reduces installation time and labor effort
  • Minimizes flange bolt hole misalignment issues
  • Absorbs axial movements caused by thermal expansion
  • High temperature and pressure resistance
  • Reduces stress on pipelines and equipment
  • Compact and robust structure
  • Long service life

Operating Values

Operating Pressure

  • Maximum 40 bar
  • (depending on DN size, bellows layers, and design)

Operating Temperature

  • -196°C / +550°C
  • (depending on bellows material)

Movement Capabilities

  • Axial Movement: ±10 mm – 50 mm
  • Lateral Movement: Limited
  • Angular Movement: Limited

Note: Rotating flange expansion joints are primarily designed to accommodate axial movements. For applications requiring significant lateral or angular movement, different expansion joint designs should be preferred.
