Weld Neck Expansion Joint

MAXWOR weld neck expansion joints are metal bellows expansion solutions designed to absorb axial movements caused by thermal expansion in pipeline systems. Thanks to the weld end connections at both ends, they are directly welded to the pipeline, providing maximum sealing performance and high mechanical strength.

The flangeless design offers a more compact solution, while ensuring safe operation in process lines operating under high pressure and high temperature. The welded connection structure minimizes leakage risks in critical process applications and enhances overall system safety.

They are widely used in power plants, refinery facilities, the chemical industry, and high-temperature process pipelines.

Technical Specifications

Design and Operating Principle

Weld neck expansion joints absorb axial movements occurring in pipeline systems through their stainless steel metal bellows structure. The bellows provide controlled flexibility, reducing stresses caused by thermal expansion and extending equipment service life.

Thanks to the weld neck connections at both ends, the expansion joint is directly welded to the pipeline. This structure provides high pressure resistance, maximum sealing performance, and long service life.

They can be manufactured in accordance with DIN, ANSI, and project-specific piping standards and are designed for heavy-duty operating conditions.

Performance Advantages

  • High pressure resistance
  • Maximum sealing performance
  • Compact design due to flangeless structure
  • Effectively absorbs thermal stresses
  • Reduces loads on pipelines and equipment
  • Reliable solution for high-temperature applications
  • Long service life
  • Low maintenance requirement

Operating Values

Operating Pressure

  • Maximum 63 bar
  • (depending on DN size, bellows layers, and design)

Operating Temperature

  • -196°C / +600°C
  • (depending on bellows and pipe material)

Movement Capabilities

  • Axial Movement: ±10 mm – 60 mm
  • Lateral Movement: Limited
  • Angular Movement: Limited

Note: Weld neck expansion joints are primarily designed to absorb axial movements. For applications with significant lateral or angular movements, different expansion joint types should be preferred.
